“Only Begotten Son: The Doctrinal Functions of Eternal Generation”

in On Classical Trinitarianism: Retrieving the Nicene Doctrine of the Triune God, ed. Matthew Barrett (Downers Grove: IVP Academic, 2024), 419-446.

[Forthcoming] Matthew Barrett has edited a large set of essays On Classical Trinitarianism: Retrieving the Nicene Doctrine of the Triune God (IVP Academic, 2024). My contribution to the volume is chapter 24, on the doctrine of eternal generation. It’s a long essay (just under 15,000 words) in which I explain how the Nicene theology of divine sonship works in systematic perspective.
