A scene from the Leben der heiligen Altväter (1482)

A Compendium of Christian Theology, 2nd Edition, Revised and EnlargedBeing Analytical Outlines of a Course of Theological Study, Biblical, Dogmatic, Historical

London: Wesleyan Conference Office, 1879

This 1879 London edition of the Compendium, 3 volumes (1361 pages plus index), is the first definitive version.

(There was never a third edition, but I have noticed a few minor changes in subsequent printings through the 1889 printing. As of June 2021 I have not made a systematic comparison of later printings, and I’m not aware of any statements from Pope about his involvement in making changes to later printings. The possibility exists that later printings may reflect further refinements by Pope. This is annoying, but in my judgement the 1879 London edition is a solid foundation for reading and citing.)
