The Doctrine of God: Fullness and Work

Reformed Faith and Practice 9:1 (December 2024), 5-15.

For a symposium on faith and work, I wrote an article about the doctrine of God. The central idea is that Christians confess God to be infinitely abundant and full, and that this view of God also informs our understanding of what creaturely work is. Christian doctrine changes our approach to wealth, to resources, to productivity, and to rest. The article has three movements:

  1. Ephesians and the Language of Economy and Work
  2. Divine Fullness
  3. Between Contemplation and Action

The article was published, along with the other papers presented at that symposium, in a themed issue of the Journal of Reformed Faith and Practice.
