What Not to Read: Bad Theology
Lewis House, Lexington, KY
On April 1 (no joke) 2025, I spoke at Lewis House, a Christian study center in Lexington, KY. Derek King invited me to talk about bad books and harmful reading. It’s an important topic, and I took the opportunity to develop it in the context of the overall project of theological formation. You might also think of this as an applied introduction to the doctrine of the reception of revelation, considered from the perspective of the receivers who are just trying to make sense of what we’re hearing. There’s an extended Q&A at the end that gives a little glimpse into the lively and diverse community gathered there around the University of Kentucky.
